SCOUTING  & PATHFINDERS

                    (excerpted from Jubilee’s Annual Report)

We wish to thank Jubilee United for its continued sponsorship of the 1ST Lawrence Valley so that exciting, challenging and fun scouting programs may continue to be offered to the youth in our community.

Currently we have over 70 boys and girls in Beavers (ages 5-7), Cubs (ages 8-10) and Scouts (ages 11-13).  We have great Leaders who are very dedicated to bringing a strong program for the youth. Supporting these activities is a Group Committee of seven.  I want to thank them all for their time and effort spent with our youth.

The 1st Lawrence has a strong reputation for its outdoor programs, such as camping, and hiking. Most importantly, we value the development of leadership and social skills by our youth members.

Community  service  and  spiritual  development  also  constitute  integral aspects  of  the  scouting  program. We are ready to serve the needs of our sponsor and of our community. Please let us know how we may be of service.

We are always looking for additional help within our adult ranks (Leaders/Group Committee). The need is particularly high within our Scout Troop.  If anyone is interested in joining our group, as one of the leaders or to inquire about registration of a youth/adult in our scouting community, please give me a call at 416 391-3685.

Yours in Scouting,

Michael Taylor,

Group Commissioner

Pathfinders 2006

The Pathfinders group at Jubilee consists of 11 girls, ages 12 to 15. Pathfinders are a part of Girl Guides, a volunteer organization promoting leadership development and community involvement for young girls.

Last year at Jubilee, the Pathfinders learned about culture dancing, made jewelry, helped Chum FM Make a Wish Foundation, baked approximately 10 dozen cookies for families within the community,  held discussions on leadership and planned outings and events to help in the community.
